Baytown:
Baytown's unique personality as a community comes as a result of it's long
history of being geographically isolated. Until the 1940's, Baytown was
cut off from the rest of the Bay Area as well as Houston. It's only been
in recent years that Baytonians have welcomed newcomers into their
community with open arms. If the recent surge of growth is any indicator
of the future, Baytown may be the next emerging market for Houstonians
looking to get out of the city. As a result, the opportunity to purchase
real estate at very reasonable prices may never be as good as now, once
the market really begins to take off. There are some excellent waterfront
properties in the Baytown area for those of you in that market. The school
district for most of Baytown is Goose Creek ISD. The reputation of this
school district is average, although many of the specific schools have
excellent reputations, and excellent private school education is
conveniently available. The school district for the part of Baytown
located east of town is Barbers Hill ISD, which has an outstanding
reputation. This more rural part of Baytown is growing quite fast, with
neighborhoods offering 1-acre lots and more relaxed deed restrictions
being common. Finally, there are quite a few properties with acreage and
practically no deed restrictions. Real estate tax rates in Baytown are
average overall--ask about areas that may have higher rates. For more
