Deer Park:
As you approach the city from Hwy. 225, the sign reads, “Birthplace of
Texas”. Deer Park is located very close to site of the Battle of San
Jacinto in which Texans won their freedom from Mexico. As you may suspect,
the name of the community comes from the fact that deer used to roam about
in great numbers at one time. Those days are long gone, as just about all
of Deer Park has been developed. Deer Park is a place of strong community
pride and strong family values. Most Deer Park residents have lived here
for a long time and wouldn’t consider living anywhere else. Housing is
affordably priced (mostly low $100's to $250K) and there are mostly resale
homes available, although there are a few new home opportunities
available. One item to keep in mind is that not all homes located in the
city of Deer Park are part of the Deer Park ISD, which is an important
consideration for many folks. Another idiosyncrasy of the area is that a
portion of the DPISD school district lies within the city of Pasadena.
Keep in mind that a professional Realtor will help you with these
considerations. Overall tax rates are average, although there are some
neighborhoods that have higher tax rates. Deer Park schools have
an outstanding reputation and private educational opportunities are
nearby. For more information about Deer Park, please
